The island of Spinalonga, together with the 16th century fortress located on it, is one of the main attractions of Crete. Once upon a time the Venetians, who own the island, founded an impregnable fortress here. During the seizure of the island by the Ottoman Empire in the 17th century, the Venetian garrison held the defensive for 65 years.

Walking along Spinalonga, you will see the milestones of different eras: a garrison of the Venetian military, a town of Turkish merchants, a settlement for people suffering from leprosy. During the first half of the twentieth century, the island was inhabited, people lived here, loved and kept hope for salvation and recovery.

After a historic walk around the fortress of Spinalonga island on a small ship, you will go to the village of Elounda, where you will have the opportunity to dine in one of the sea taverns, and then a walk through the town of Agios Nikolaos awaits.
