Lassithi Plateau - Cave of Zeus

Crete is not in vain called the island of legends and myths. During the Lassithi - Zeus Cave program, you will get to know the true spirit of this island: the virgin nature of mountain ranges, olive groves and lost patriarchal villages.

This excursion includes a visit to the Lassithi plateau, one of the largest on the island, the Vidyani monastery, the cave of Zeus, the pottery workshop, as well as the Lasinfos eco-park.

The Lassithi Plateau is one of the most picturesque places of the island, spread out in the Dikti Mountains at an altitude of almost 900 meters above sea level. Here, life goes on and you can feel the calmness and tranquility of this place floating in the air.

On the plateau there is also a small Vidyani monastery dedicated to the Life-Giving Spring. In the monastery you can light candles and visit the workshop where icons are painted.

On the plateau there is also a cave in which according to myths Zeus was born - the father of all gods and people, the great god Thunderer. The age of this cave is more than several tens of millennia.

In the family pottery workshop you can watch how an experienced craftsman makes various dishes from clay in just a few minutes. Little travelers will also be able to participate in the manufacture of ceramics.

At the end of the program a visit to the Lasinfos eco-park will help you get acquainted with the life and traditions of the local population.  A traditional lunch is also provided here, during which you can taste one of the most famous dishes of local cuisine - lamb "Antikristo".
