Holy places of Thessaloniki (One Day Pilgrimage)

Acquaintance with Thessaloniki will start from the Acropolis and observing of the ancient walls surrounding the historic center of Soluni. Staying at the observation deck you will be able to enjoy panoramic view of the city, spread out on the shores of the Thermaikos Gulf.

Next,  a highlighting tour of the shrines of Thessaloniki by bus with stops at the main attractions.

Visiting the temple of the great martyr Demetrius of Solunsky, in which his holy relics rest, and in the underground part there is a crypt where Saint Demetrius suffered martyrdom.

The next stop is at the Roman Agora; observing the Aristotelous square; Monastery of St. Theodora the Myrrh-flowing, where her holy relics are stored. After that, you will be able to immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of the Church of St. Sophia of the Wisdom of God, built according to the type of the ancient Sofia of Constantinople.

Pilgrims will be impressed by the catacombs of St. John the Baptist, after that it will be possible to pray in the metropolis of Thessaloniki - the temple where the relics of St. Gregory Palamas rest.

At the end of this part of the program, free time remains - about 1.5 hours. After that, we will make a transfer to the suburbs of Thessaloniki to visit the ancient monastery of St. Anastasia the Solvers (9th century) and the convent of the Apostle John the Theologian, where the grave of Elder Paisius Svyatogorets is located.
