Delphi Meteora, two days

Two-day program that will allow everyone  to get acquainted with two historically and culturally significant sights of mainland Greece within one route.

Delphi, located on the slopes of Parnassus, is an awe-inspiring place. Steep cliffs rise into the sky, steep breakages turn into gentle slopes, and  below are the ruins of an ancient city. Delphi fascinates with its size and variety of monuments that remind of the turbulent history of this sacred place.

For the people of the ancient world, Delphi was the main place on earth, where the "navel of the earth" "omphalos" was located. The most authoritative oracle of Apollo was located in Delphi, and the ancient Greeks loved to look into the future and had a great addiction to prophecy. In the central part of the sanctuary is the Temple of Apollo, where the legendary Pythia had sat, who spoke mysterious predictions on behalf of God. The lower level is dedicated to the goddess Athena, and is characterized by one of the most beautiful monuments of antiquity - a rotunda with columns.

The ancient stadium of the 5th century BC deserves attention.  The Pythian Games were held here every 4 years. Initially, wooden seats were installed in the stadium, but the modern look was acquired in the second century under Herod. At the same time, a triumphal arch was built at the entrance. Scientists estimate that the stadium could accommodate 6.5 thousand people in the stands.

The nearby museum contains numerous treasures, including the famous statue of the "Charioteer", "Chicken", "Sphinx" and other artifacts from antiquity and Roman times.

The Delphic Archaeological Complex is included in the UNESCO heritage list.

At the end of the first day you will meet the sunset overlooking the Meteora monasteries soaring in the air  in the village of Kalambaka.

Second day - visiting the monasteries of Meteora. The Christian monasteries of Meteora, based on gigantic steep rocks, majestically directed into the sky, evoke an indescribable feeling that combines fear and admiration at the same time. How these monasteries were built remains a mystery until nowadays . Over time the rocks have acquired the most bizarre shapes and resemble a "stone city" and are rightfully considered the pearl of the Thessalian plain. During the excursion you will see the rocks of Meteora, as well as visit one active monastery.

Excursion Delphi - Meteora is an opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural, historical and Orthodox heritage of Greece.

• be sure to have a passport and insurance with you for hotel accommodation;
• wear comfortable shoes for your comfort;
• entrance tickets and lunch are paid additionally;
• visiting holy places provides for a certain form of clothing: for men, long trousers and covered shoulders; for women - skirt below the knee, covered neckline and shoulders;
• accommodation in Kalambaka in a 3 * hotel (breakfast / dinner) in 2 and 3-bed rooms is provided;
• the excursion program can be changed in case of force majeure circumstances, weather conditions or at the discretion of the guide;
