Holy places of Veria and its surroundings (One-Day Pilgrimage)

The journey begins with Thessaloniki city - with  visiting  Apostle Paul's temple, where a particle of his holy relics is stored.

Next we will visit the monastery of St. John the Baptist, next to the cave where many saints were staying, including the founder of Hesychasm, St. Gregory Palamas. In the monastery there is a collection of holy relics, among which part of the right hand of St. John the Baptist.

Acquaintance with Veria city will begin with the temple, which stores the relics of St. Anthony of Verius - patron of the city. The tribune of  Apostle Paul - the place from which his fervent sermon was heard, attracting many thousands of people to faith in Christ, will take pilgrims to the early Christian times.

And in Kastanya place there is the temple of Panagia Sumela, which stores the ancient miraculous image of the Virgin, according to legend, written by the Apostle Luke. Even nowadays this icon is the reason of diverse miracles.

Visiting the monastery of Panagia Dovra (XII century), dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There are revered shrines in it - the miraculous image of Panagia Dovra, the right hand of Demetrius of Solunsky, a particle of the relics of St. Luke Voino-Yasenetsky.
