The Republic of Bulgaria is situated in south-eastern Europe, on the picturesque Balkan Peninsula, in its eastern extremity. Its name country owes the peoples who inhabited these lands since immemorial times.

The country borders with 5 countries: in the south - with Greece and Turkey, to the west - with Serbia and Montenegro, on the south-west with Macedonia, in the north - with Romania, and in the east Bulgaria bordering the Black Sea.
